Complete! My wife's begun running an underwater Dungeons and Dragons campaign, so I painted up models for the group. (Except for the rogue - he wants to find a figure that represents himself, instead of his character, incase it dies or he ends up in other DnD games)

On the left is my halfling paladin, who is also a manta rider. The figures are Frodo and Sam in orc armour (because finding armoured halflings is hard) and the manta is a screamer of tzeentch. I painted it with an underwater natural look in mind - greens for cloth, greys/deep blue for leather, orange shell/chitin for heavier armour. I tried my hand at giving the manta a bit of a pattern which turned out alright - I'm still not great at the 2D stuff. The manta's base is a long horse base weighted down with some quarters and nickels, then covered in a bunch of layers of painted/washed/highlighted water effect gel. The saddle, and some parts of the lance were created with Green Stuff.

In the center is our druid. My only guideline from the player was grey robes and tarnished armour. I build him up on a base of rocks, covered in water gel, clear bead gel and plastic glue. (layers, not mixed) After I covered them, I realised after that I should have painted the wet areas of the bottom of his robe a darker grey. I love the look of the mix of armour and robe on this guy, though I think he looks more like a cleric.

The wizard on the right is quite... flamboyant. The request from this player was make him look like The Joker, with striped pants, and some creative license to make the colours flow some more. Everything on this guy was interesting to paint because it's so vibrant and clashing. I think his striped pants came out particularly well, as did the coral staff topped with the creep cherub thing, the blade of his sword and even his skin.

Yup, we're a mis-mashed group.

Soon I'll finish the 3D game board, and post it on here.

Really nice job. I use to paint 25mm figures back in the early 80's. Most of what I painted were the Official Lord of the Rings figures that were released after the Ralph Bakshi animated movie. Also painted lots of the AD&D figures and have/had quite a few of the Dragon of the Month figure. They were all lead back then, unlike the Warhammer figures I got several years ago which are plastic. Never thought about posting them here on DA.

Just mentioning all this to show I realize how much work can go into painting these.
